4 Tips to Successfully Get Back in Shape!
Starting to exercise at a gym is one thing, but being diligent and getting the expected results is… a little bit less simple! In addition to having the support of a personal trainer and a nutritionist to guide you through your process, here are a few tips to help you stay motivated!
Give yourself a break! Do not expect to be able to complete your exercise program easily! If you are just beginning to exercise and are only able to complete 5 squats with adequate form on the first day, try to do 7 on your next workout. Eventually, you will get to 12 or 15. The same thing applies to training frequency. Start with two or three days a week. Once you have been able to maintain this routine for a few months, you will be ready to add another.
Be selfish! Generally speaking, women feel guilty about taking time for themselves, tend to help others as soon as the need arises, and end up forgetting themselves in the process. Taking care of yourself through exercise will enable you to help others for much longer!
Bring a friend! This tip is particularly helpful during the early stage of your process. If you need a reason to help you not “skip a workout”, having someone waiting for you at the gym will help make sure you show up! By scheduling workouts with a friend, you increase your chances of being diligent, which increases your chances of getting results… Which, in turn, will motivate you to keep going on! But be careful not to rely entirely on your friend… Promise yourself that you will go to the gym, no matter what!
Don’t get too comfortable! When routine sets in, we might want to go through the motions at the gym, completing our program as fast as possible without paying attention to form… However, good form can make all the difference when it comes to results. Make the most out of each workout by performing all your exercises correctly. Always put in the necessary intensity. After all, as long as you are already at the gym, you should make the most out of your time there!
