The UQAM research chair for the treatment and prevention of cancer
Set up as an initiative of Nautilus Plus, the raison d’être of the Richard Béliveau Fund is to finance his research. Created in 2004, the UQÀM research chair for the treatment and prevention of cancer is devoted to research on the identification of human dietary compounds with preventive and therapeutic properties
, and their use to reduce the incidence and development of cancers in humans.
The laboratory, which is run by Professor Richard Béliveau, who holds a doctorate in biochemistry, is recognized worldwide in both the medical and general populations. What is more, he is one of the leading experts in this field and was the first person to provide evidence of the anticancer properties of green tea polyphenols.
His research is based on both solid scientific findings and statistical data that confirms correlations between population groups, food, and the incidence of certain cancers.
