Holiday Bite-Sized Appetizers!

Are you hosting during the Holidays? Here are my tasty and healthy appetizer ideas for your guests.  No need to feel deprived during this festive time of the year. Limit yourself to one or two of each kind; that’s all there is to it. Enjoy yourself, and Happy Holidays!

Sesame tuna tataki

10 servings
58 calories / 4 g carbs / 3 g fat / 6 g proteins / 0 g fiber

200 g fresh raw tuna
60 ml (1/4 cup) low sodium soy sauce
30 ml (2 tablespoons) maple syrup
15 ml (1 tablespoon) fresh ginger, grated
30 ml (2 tablespoons) black and white sesame seeds
5 ml (1 teaspoon) sesame oil
4 fresh cilantro sprigs, chopped
Salt and pepper, to taste

In a bowl, marinate the tuna for at least an hour in soy sauce, maple syrup, and ginger. Coat with sesame seeds, salt, and pepper. In a pan, cook the tuna in sesame oil for about 1 minute on each side. The center must not be cooked. Garnish with cilantro right before serving.


Cucumber and feta nibbles

10 servings
23 calories / 3 g carbs / 1 g fat / 1 g proteins / 1 g fiber

80 ml (1/3 cup) light feta cheese
60 ml (1/4 cup) sweet red bell pepper, diced
30 ml (2 tablespoons) black olives, chopped
30 ml (2 tablespoons) dried tomatoes, chopped
15 ml (1 tablespoon) red onion, chopped
1 large cucumber, cut in 10 pieces
Salt and pepper, to taste

In a bowl, mix the feta cheese, red pepper, olives, dried tomatoes, and red onion. Add salt and pepper. Using a spoon, empty the middle part of the cucumber pieces without carving out the bottom. Garnish your cucumbers with the feta mix.


Shrimp, mango, and avocado verrine

10 servings
64 calories / 6 g carbs / 3 g fat / 4 g proteins / 2 g fiber

250 g cooked shrimps, peeled
1 mango, diced
1 avocado, diced
4 cilantro sprigs, chopped
Zest and juice from a lime
5 ml (1 teaspoon) Espelette pepper
Salt and pepper, to taste

In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together. Serve in verrines, and garnish with cilantro.
