Top 3 Obstacles to Physical Activity

Each week, I meet new clients who have decided to take charge of themselves. All of them have a common desire: to make a significant change in their physical and mental well-being, but some have a real hard time doing it. Although they have the best intentions in the world, many of them will soon realize that actually getting back into shape is going to require a lot of changes and sacrifices. To better understand why these people fail or postpone reaching their initial objective, here are the top 3 obstacles to physical activity.

Unrealistic objectives

Nowadays, people seem to want everything too fast. We want to both eat our cake and keep it. We see many attacking the problem from all angles. A new job, new love, new nutrition (healthier, less calories), no more smoking, and at least 3 workouts a week at the gym. In theory, all these changes are to be permanent. Where’s the rush to do everything at the same time? Allow yourself some time to take in these changes. If you need him, your trainer will be able to help you prioritize.

Computer & TV

Whether it is TV shows or the Internet, both take up too much time in people’s lives. We often complain that we do not have enough time to get back in shape, but if we were to string all the minutes wasted zapping from channel to channel, or switching from our Facebook account to our email (often in a loop), we would quickly realize that unless we can make days last 26 hours, there is room to stop wasting two hours a day. Give yourself the time you need to move.

Practical organisation

In the same order of ideas, some have a good idea of the objectives they want to reach, but forget to take every detail into account when it’s time to have a definitive gym schedule: girlfriend, boyfriend, dog, cat, the kid’s karate class, a sick mom, a busy period at work, finals at school, etc. Your new objectives are important to you? Give physical activity the time it deserves.

Have a great workout!

That being said, between two sports, he particularly enjoys writing. Philosopher and blogger in his spare time, he gave himself the mission of selling you physical activity as the (sometimes unsuspected) solution to many of your questions and problems. With a very pragmatic approach, he will know how to guide you through the steps that will lead you to succeed in what should be one of the most important projects of your life: your own well-being. His motto: A healthy body leads to a healthy mind.
