Six questions you should ask yourself when choosing an approach to weight loss

When it comes to weight loss, we must remember there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Therefore, the best strategy is to find what works for you. Here are six questions you should ask yourself when choosing an approach to weight loss.

1. Is dieting a realistic way to lose weight?

Beware of methods that promise a 20-lb weight loss within 1 month. Question the approach, and do your own research. A healthy weight loss should aim to make you lose 1 to 2 pounds per week.

2. Will I be able to maintain these habits long-term?

Extremely restrictive changes might seem like a good way to lose weight quickly, given the simplicity of a program where everything is either black or white. However, this type of restricting program can prove very hard to follow. If you’re already looking forward to the end of your program, it is probably not the best method for you.

3. Do you recommend diet supplements, and will they help me achieve amazing results?

No product can be a substitute for healthy eating habits. In addition, healthy food will make you save money on the long term.

4. Can the method be easily integrated into your lifestyle?

Think about your everyday activities and whether this method is really suitable to your lifestyle, both at home and at work.

5. Does the method take your anthropometric measurements into consideration?

Each person has their own daily requirements in terms of calories (metabolism) and energy expenditure. Is the calorie, macronutrient, and micronutrient intake adapted to your needs?

6. Does the method take your personal history into account?

Taking into account your personal history will increase your odds of success. The three main factors are your medical history, past nutritional habits, and past weight variations.
