Bolder and More Daring than Ever

After a period of great turmoil in my life (ending my relationship, moving out, changing jobs, being a single parent, etc.), I realized that I had the potential to do anything, and that all I had to do was get down to business. It was only logic that physical health be the first step on my path to accomplish my dreams. I didn’t start out by planning to run a marathon, or even to lose weight; all I wanted was to become diligent and successfully integrate physical activity into my daily life. Of course, everything else fell into place after.
I wasn’t setting the example I wanted for my son. I wasn’t isolated, but I felt disheartened by my lack of energy in the evening, and countless aches and pains were giving me a hard time all day long. My own body had become a prison that was hindering my personal fulfilment.
In December 2014, right before I started my journey to get back in shape, I volunteered at work to participate in the preparation and delivery of Christmas baskets for the less fortunate. These 2 days of work left me so sore and exhausted that I started thinking about how I would not be back next year… until I realized the absurdity of such thoughts and just how ludicrous my physical condition was.
In the end, I successfully changed my body, transformed my silhouette*, bought an entirely new wardrobe, improved my lung capacity, etc., but the thing that thrills me the most is that new feeling of being able to accomplish anything. Just like during my studies, my life used to be grounded in theory rather than action. Being physically active gave me the discipline I needed to take action and be in the moment. I am now bolder and more daring than ever!
