6 Healthy Halloween Treats Ideas
October 23, 2015 - By Nautilus Plus
When we think of Halloween, the first things that spring to mind are chocolate and candy. It’s important that you indulge yourself on these special occasions, but if you are in a weight loss process, do so moderately, as treats will quickly boost your caloric intake instead of maintaining your caloric deficit.
Don’t deprive yourself! This attitude can make you give in to the very cravings you want to avoid. You can treat yourself by opting for healthier treats!
Here are 6 ideas for healthy alternatives:
1) Pumpkin seeds for some protein
- Wash and dry the seeds of a pumpkin;
- Drizzle with olive oil and add salt, to taste;
- Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
2) Dried fruit for a sweet touch
Cranberries, pineapple, apricots, kiwis, bananas, strawberries, etc.: You can prepare them yourself or buy them at the store and ask your kids to help you fill small bags with their favourite fruits.
3) Homemade chocolate
Spread your favourite nuts on a baking sheet. Melt chocolate in a double boiler and pour it on top of the nuts. Then, freeze until the chocolate is set.
4) Pretzels vs. chips
Pretzels are an interesting alternative to chips, which are more popular, but contain more fat.
5) Cereal party mix
Mix both you and your kids’ favourite cereals to create a surprising mix that’s both nutritious and sweet.
6) Small chocolate bars
Big companies offers their chocolate bars in a small size. A fraction of the size, a fraction of the calories. It is a good compromise!
These ideas should help you spend Halloween without ruining your progress. Remember that the best way to treat yourself is by controlling the frequency and the quantity of sweets you eat.
