About the Blog

The blog I’m taking charge, a Nautilus Plus initiative, brings together writers from the fields of physical activity and nutrition. Our main objective is to share tips and tricks on training and healthy nutrition to help you take charge of your life. Whether it is to lose weight, increase your muscle mass, or a combination of both, our advice will help you in your process. On our blog, you will find delicious and healthy recipes, exercises, ideas to stay motivated, in addition to essential information on training and nutrition.

Karine Larose is a kinesiologist, director of communications and Spokesperson for Nautilus Plus and specializes in fitness motivation. She authored The Guide to Healthier Living, also penned the book 10-4 The Healthy Way to Lose 10 Pounds in 4 Weeks, and recently released her third work called Zero Diet: Delicious and Healthy Recipes for Success, all by Les editions du TRÉCARRÉ. Karine has launched a series of exercise DVDs entitled 30 minutes par jour pour Vivre Plus. Many TV shows and radio stations regularly request Karine’s point of view on physical exercise issues and points of interest.

Sophie has always been passionate about food. She loves creating healthy and tasty dishes, and sharing them. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in marketing, and has been working in Nautilus Plus’s marketing department since 2009. By sharing her recipes, Sophie wants to inspire people to cook with fresh and healthy foods. She also wishes to prove that it is possible to eat healthy without sacrificing taste! All of her recipes and their nutritional value are validated and approved by a nutrition coordinator at Nautilus Plus. Bon appétit!

A newcomer to Nautilus Plus, Vanessa Martin holds a degree in nutrition from the Université de Montréal and is a member in good standing of the Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec. She also works in the hospital setting and loves to blog in her spare time. Passionate and versatile, Vanessa plans on enhancing her knowledge in the field of psychology with an eye to better guiding and motivating the habit-changing endeavors of her clients. Member of a running club, she enjoys taking part in the competitions organized in her area. Vanessa is currently training for a 21 km race and would like to run her first marathon!

Nutrition supervisor at Nautilus Plus, member of the Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec and holder of a bachelor’s degree from McGill University, Alyssa joined the Nautilus Plus team in January 2014. She developed an interest in healthy nutrition at a very young age, inspired by her grandmother’s large vegetable garden and her iron health still going strong at over 90 years of age. Proper nutrition and an active lifestyle are the secrets to a long life. An avid outdoor enthusiast, Alyssa exercises regularly and shares her tips to living a balanced lifestyle acknowledging that she does have a sweet tooth. She is the proud spokesperson for the «Zero Diet» brand and she is being followed more and more on social networks.

Holder of a degree in nutrition from Université Laval, Marilyne has worked as a nutritionist for Nautilus Plus since 2010. Passionate about healthy eating and sports nutrition, she also gives lectures and hosts cooking workshops. With her clients, Marilyne makes extensive use of the instinct diet approach and the Mediterranean diet model. Furthermore, she has attended classes on live nutrition at the Hippocrates Health Institute. Maryline ran the Quebec City Marathon des Deux Rives - Half Marathon in 2010 and 2012. She also took part in the Staircase Challenge, another event held in Quebec City in June 2012. Marilyne also plays in an Ultimate Frisbee league and trains regularly at the Nautilus Plus branch where she is employed.

Holder of a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the Université Laval, Xavier has decided to join the ranks of Nautilus Plus during the winter of 2012 to share his passion about training and sports in general. In sports, he has tried it all (soccer, tennis, dek-hockey, hockey, mountain biking, running, crossfit, etc.), so we could say he qualifies as a hyperactive person. That being said, between two sports, he particularly enjoys writing. Philosopher and blogger in his spare time, he gave himself the mission of selling you physical activity as the (sometimes unsuspected) solution to many of your questions and problems. With a very pragmatic approach, he will know how to guide you through the steps that will lead you to succeed in what should be one of the most important projects of your life: your own well-being. His motto: A healthy body leads to a healthy mind.

Member of the Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec and holder of a bachelor’s degree from McGill University, Marie-Eve joined the Nautilus Plus team in November 2012. Nutritionist since January 2013 and assistant manager at Delson’s centre, Marie-Eve has found a passion for exercise and sports nutrition. She is currently completing her studies with the International Olympic Committee and exercises regularly. She ran her first half-marathon in Ottawa in May 2014, and was thrilled by the experience! She strives to pass on her passion to her clients and loved ones. Her objective is to help her clients get the results they desire and motivate them to adopt a healthy life style. She creates weight loss support groups and holds conferences on motivation and how to plan shopping for groceries.

LES ENFORMIDABLES, ce sont des gens qui un jour ont pris la décision de mettre leur santé en priorité et de se prendre en main. À travers leurs témoignages, ils nous racontent leurs histoires, leurs cheminements et leurs réussites. Ce sont des gens en forme. Ce qui les rend formidables, c’est qu’ils ont accompli une chose importante : sortir de la sédentarité. Holder of a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from McGill University, and member of the Ordre Professionnel des Diététistes du Québec, Caroline has been working as a nutritionist for Nautilus Plus since January 2013. A seasoned marathon runner with a passion for cooking, she also animates conferences and motivation groups about nutrition! “As I have not always been a keen athlete, I am very proud of having completed a marathon, and also of preparing the next ones! For me, nutrition is not only the key to optimal performance, but also a medicine in itself. Therefore, my objective is to encourage people to change their habits if they need to and motivate them to never give up, but first and foremost, make them realize that eating healthy is a pleasure that we are lucky to enjoy three times a day!”

Holder of a degree in nutrition from McGill University, and member of the Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec, Karine is currently pursuing a specialist diploma in sports nutrition with the International Olympic Committee. She has been part of the Nautilus Plus team since March 2012. Karine has demonstrated exemplary dedication in her own physical preparation by regularly training in our centers, and has completed the Montreal half-marathon in 2013. Passionate about her work, her objective is to ensure the success of everyone, and motivate you to adopt healthy eating habits. Whether you are picky about food, or a real food lover, Karine will get you to enjoy the pleasures of eating healthy foods that are suited to your needs, so that you can feel good about yourself, and become active!

Nutritionist and nutrition coordinator, Alina has been part of the Nautilus Plus team since 2011. Holder of a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from McGill University and a diploma in sports nutrition through the International Olympic Committee, she is also a member of the Ordre Professionnel des Diététistes du Québec. Passionate about nutrition as much as about sports, she is currently completing a master’s degree in sports nutrition in Stirling, Scotland. In addition to working out regularly and taking part in various physical activities, from climbing to surf without forgetting yoga, Alina loves sharing her nutrition tips and tricks. Her objective is to make nutrition simple and accessible to everyone in order to have as much impact as possible on your daily routine!

Christina holds a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from the University of Montreal, and has been a member of the Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec since 1999. She has been working at Nautilus Plus since 2008, where she began as a nutritionist, before occupying her current position of Nutrition Operations Coordinator since 2010. Actively contributing in the development and training of nutritionists at Nautilus Plus, Christina is one of the go-to experts in nutrition within the organisation. Before specialising in sports nutrition, Christina worked as a dietician-nutritionist at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital for 10 years, in addition to doing consultations in private clinic and private homes. To add to her professional baggage, she also worked as a dietician and nutrition consultant for a school board.

Holder of a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from Université Laval in 2006 and member of the Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec, Valérie has been working as a nutritionist at Nautilus Plus since March 2014. Throughout her career, she has worked in various fields, from hospitals and physical rehabilitation to writing articles and reference documents. However, she has dedicated the majority of her work to food safety and allergies. Curious and versatile… but most of all, passionate about cooking and sports nutrition, she loves giving advice to her clients to help them make the best choices to reach their specific objectives, whatever they may be. Physical activity has always been an important part of her life: recreative and competitive volley-ball, training in the gym, group classes, and also running in the last few years. She also loves the feeling of freedom she gets from it, and would love to surpass herself by running increasingly longer distances during competitions!

A graduate of the University of Montreal, Marie-Christine holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and is a nutritionist at Nautilus Plus since 2015. Her interest in nutrition was triggered by a particularly difficult period in her life and decided to take her health into her own hands. And so the fascination began for all that encompasses a healthy lifestyle: nutrition, stress management, mental wellbeing, physical activity, etc. Her goal is to help people adopt healthier lifestyles and find that balance that appeals to them. During her sessions, she uses psychological science as well as food awareness to help motivate people. She is a mother of 2, she is interested in children’s nutrition, developing both a healthy body image and a healthy relationship with food. She works out regularly at the Nautilus Plus center where she works and enjoys weight training and CrossFit-type workouts. She also practices yoga. Marie-Christine Morin, Dt.P.

Julie’s passion for health and the environment was clear at an early age. She discovered her passion for nutrition when she substituted ingredients to make healthy homemade muffins. Now a graduate of the University of Montreal and a nutritionist at Nautilus Plus since December 2016, Julie shares her knowledge and her passion for healthy cooking with her colleagues and clients alike, as well as through her own personal blog. In addition to using her flair and creativity in the kitchen, Julie expresses her artistic side through competitive contemporary dance. Nautilus Plus club manager and Level 3 personal trainer, Rosanne is specialized in endurance sports training which provides maximum performance results for running and triathlon enthusiasts. Over the past several years, she has accompanied many clients in their physical and lifestyle transformations. Rosanne also took part in the television programs S.O.S. Santé and Caféine. Rosanne is also a training instructor for l’Association Nationale des Intervenants en Entraînement (ANIE).
